Myths and Misconceptions about Low Back Pain
In this 3 part series of blog posts, we will uncover 3 common misconceptions about low back pain and how to treat it. Let’s get into it!
Myth #1
“Sleeping on a firm surface is good for low back pain”
If you're struggling with low back pain, your mattress might be playing a role. Sleeping on a mattress that doesn't provide proper support can lead to poor sleep posture, which can exacerbate low back pain. A mattress that is too soft may not provide enough support, while one that is too firm may create pressure points that contribute to discomfort.
We get a lot of questions about what type of mattress should be used for people who have low back pain. Firm? Soft? Memory foam? Sleep number? With so many options, it can be hard to choose. The truth is that there is no right type. The best mattress is the one that works for you.
It's important to find a mattress that strikes a balance between your specific level of comfort and support. Look for a mattress that conforms to your body shape while providing enough support for your spine.
